Getting fit for the global market: student Cristina Coscia reports on her experiences with the double degree in Australia
Partly studying abroad is part of studying at the International School of Management. What many people don't know is that you can also obtain an international degree, a so-called double degree. But what are your ambitions and how does it help you develop your career? We spoke to Cristina Coscia, Master's student in International Logistics & Supply Chain Management at the ISM Campus in Frankfurt, about this. She is currently studying and living in Australia. She is studying at the University of the Sunshine in Queensland.
Why are you studying International Logistics & Supply Chain Management?
I am currently pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) in International Logistics & Supply Chain Management, building on the fundamental knowledge and skills I acquired during my undergraduate studies in Industrial Engineering. A passion for this field has fueled my ambition to gain an in-depth understanding of the interconnected global logistics and supply chain landscape. I am confident that this degree will equip me with a solid foundation to enter the workforce and navigate the complexities of business organizations in today's fast-paced and interconnected world.
What do you want to do (with it) later in your career?
I would like to take on a key role in a company that places great value on the efficient and sustainable provision of goods and services. I place a high value on sustainability and want to contribute to companies that prioritize environmental and social responsibility while striving for operational excellence.
And why do you think it is important that this course exists?
In today's dynamic and ever-evolving business environment, where advanced technologies and the digital economy are redefining industry operations, I believe this degree program is essential. It is crucial to understand not only the internal dynamics but also the external influences in order to survive in today's globalized market.
Why is experience abroad so important to you during your studies? And what does the double degree offer you?
I firmly believe that international experience is essential to understanding global dynamics, both professionally and personally. My dual degree in management in Australia has given me a comprehensive understanding of how businesses, large and small, should be strategically managed and organized. This double degree has equipped me with the knowledge and strategic insights required to overcome the challenges and seize the opportunities that arise in our rapidly changing world.
Why are you in Australia right now? What do you hope to gain from your time there?
I hope that the learning opportunities in Australia will provide me with a solid and comprehensive foundation while serving as a launch pad into the professional world. As I approach the end of my academic journey, I want to improve my practical skills and knowledge required for real-world application in the field of international logistics and supply chain management.
Can you imagine living and working abroad later on?
I would like to continue living and working abroad in the long term and eventually return to Italy - where I was born - with the knowledge I have gained to contribute to the further development of the Italian economic landscape. I strongly believe that living abroad, especially at this formative stage, is essential to learn different ways of thinking, new cultures and perspectives needed to succeed in the dynamic global business world.
