Online Bachelor's Programs

When you opt for a full-time bachelor degree, studying is your "main job". You will attend lectures every day, write assignments or work on group projects with fellow students and prepare for exams. You dedicate yourself fully to your Bachelor's program. The workload of a full-time bachelor course is equivalent to a full-time job.

You will receive your lecture timetable at the start of your bachelor studies and attend the respective courses provided for in your Bachelor's degree program.

Yes, at ISM you have the option to study fully online, from anywhere in the world, with ISM Distance Learning. We offer several study models for our online Bachelor's, among which the Digital Track in full time with 6 semesters is the most popular one. Other options include the Practical Track in which you can spend one or two semesters doing an internship that is ccredited towards your studies.

Some of the modules of our online Bachelor's are held however as live seminar, in which case your periodical attendance online during the seminar is expected.

A distance-learning Bachelor’s from a reputable German university like the ISM can open many international career doors, provided you use it wisely. A German degree is well respected, especially in business and IT. You can apply to roles in your home country or internationally, not just in Germany. Many employers value internationally educated candidates for remote roles, especially if your program included English-language courses. You’ll easily qualify for typical graduate positions (e.g. business analyst, sales or marketing associate, junior analyst), depending on your field. If you later decide to move to Germany or Europe, your degree strengthens your profile for getting visa and jobs, although language skills and local experience matter as well. International graduates can also take advantage of Germany's 18-month post-study work visa to find a job and potentially settle in Germany long-term.

Generally, studying Bachelor in distance learning with the part-time study model will allow you to work alongside studying. The "part-time fast" study model has 20 ECTS per semester and is therefore rather suitable for someone working only moderately or part-time, while the study model "part-time slow " with 15 ECTS per semester may allow you to take on a job with more working hours. The full-time study model included 30 ECTS which is equivalent to ca 40-45 hours of study per week. In this case, we recommend only a moderate workload at the job. Of course, all depends on your personal schedule, workload during the week and other time-constraining factors. ISM tried to offer students the maximum flexibility and the option to switch from one model to another, or to extend the study period with two semesters, when needed, upon consulting with your study advisor. 

Our Bachelor programs are designed for applicants who have achieved general qualification for German university admission.

For the pre-check of your qualification for a Bachelor’s program, please submit the following documents when applying online for a pre-check:

• School leaving certificate in original language, including subjects and translation thereof in English (if available)
• Transcript of records 
• Short Curriculum vitae (CV)
• Copy of your ID card
• proof of English language knowledge, such as certificates like IELTS, TOEFL, etc. - only needed if the medium of instruction in your high school was not English and if you are no native speaker; otherwise, please contact the study advisors for more information.

Our admissions team will gladly perform a pre-check of your documents for you. Upon examination and sucessful verification of your documents, you will be asked to attend an online selection interview.

The admission requirements for an online Bachelor's degree depend on various factors. Basically, you need a general university entrance qualification or a comparable qualification. At ISM you will need to apply also with a short letter of motivation, a CV, copy of your ID card, and your school-leaving certificates as well as proof of English-language knowledge of at least B2-level. You do NOT have to fulfill an NC (Numerus Clausus) or meet certain GPA criteria.
