In the worldwide MBA university ranking 2024, ISM achieved a top tier position for the second year in a row. ISM convinced - as one of only five awarded German business schools - with its quality teaching and practical relevance. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) offered in Munich, Berlin and Dortmund can accordingly compare with international providers. What are the key differences between an MBA and a Masters?

The main difference is that an MBA degree is a business-focused advanced graduate degree that usually takes 1 to 2 years to complete and requires existing work experience, while a business masters degree (MS degree) is a general graduate degree that typically takes 2 years (4 semesters) to complete. MBA courses are usually more expensive and the syllabus has a stronger focus on practical skills, while master programs focus more on academic research.


How much does an MBA costs?

The tuition fees for an MBA program at ISM can vary between €24,900 for the full-time and €27,000 for the part-time master. It's important to note that our MBA programs can also be partially funded through scholarships, grants, and loans. Please visit our study financing page for more information.


What are the eligibility criteria for an MBA admission in Germany?

  • a first successful degree with 210 ECTS-points from a graduate studies at an university, or of a foreign university of corresponding rank as well. Your GMAT score does not matter for the admission.
  • at least two to three years of professional work experience after the first degree.
  • missing ECTS points can be replaced up to a limit of 30 ECTS points by qualified professional experience – in addition to the professional experience required above.
  • English language skills (e.g. TOEFL test)
  • The admission process consists of a case study and an interview.
