Pre-Master
Business administration preparation for non-business economists
Sound knowledge of business administration is often the prerequisite for a Master's programme in the field of management. However, many interested students do not meet the admission requirements with their Bachelor's programme.
The compact preparatory semester enables you to qualify for the diverse Master's programme at ISM. It doesn't matter in which field you have completed your Bachelor's degree: we make you fit for the Master's!
- Basic know-how: business administration, accounting
- Specific expertise: cost accounting, strategic management
- Preparation for an economic Master's degree
How can I apply for the Pre-Master?
In order to be able to study the Pre-Master at ISM, you complete a digital application process that considers your personality, motivation, and skills. You apply online, upload your documents, attend a personal selection interview – and, if successful, secure your study place directly. The Business Administration Preparation Semester is not restricted by a “Numerus Clausus” (NC, average grade).
- Bachelor's degree (at least 180 ECTS)
- Application documents (transcript of records, bachelor's degree, English proof, etc.)
- Successful participation in online application process

Largest ISM campus, founded in 1990. Centrally located in Dortmund's Technology Park, 10 minutes from the city center.
Frankfurt/Main Campus
was opened in 2007 and is centrally located in Sachsenhausen near the Südbahnhof train station. It offers modern facilities and an international focus in the financial center of Frankfurt.
Munich Campus
was opened in 2009 and is centrally located on Karlstraße, not far from the main train station. Munich is an economic and cultural metropolis that offers a high quality of life and a wide range of leisure activities.
Berlin Campus
Opened in 2019, it is centrally located in Schöneberg. It offers modern seminar and common rooms, a lounge, and a roof terrace—ideal for creative learning in the heart of the capital.
After completing my bachelor's degree in fashion design, I was looking for a master's degree in business administration. The Pre-Master at the ISM teaches foreign students like me the basics of business administration and has made it possible for me to pursue my desired course of studies.
