“To foster an inclusive, supportive and vibrant environment for all international students” – Ting Wu receives DAAD award
For her remarkable achievements in her studies in International Business (M.Sc.) and her dedication to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community at ISM Ms. Ting Wu was awarded with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Prize. Endowed with 1,000 euros, the DAAD Prize is awarded annually to international students who excel not only academically but also demonstrate exceptional social commitment.
Strengthening the global community at ISM
Ms. Wu’s efforts were particularly evident in her role as a Coordinator of the Buddy-Program at the ISM Dortmund campus. In this role, she organized numerous events, including welcome and farewell parties, cultural excursions and gatherings to help international exchange students feel at home.
She also managed the program budget, designed promotional materials and provided vital support in navigating housing, academic life, and cultural integration, ensuring a smooth transition for many students.
“My main focus during this experience was to foster an inclusive, supportive, and vibrant environment for all international students. I believe that the Buddy-Program was instrumental in creating lasting connections between local and exchange students, thereby strengthening the global community at ISM.” Ms. Wu shared in her letter of application.
Enriching the Buddy-Program experience
During a celebratory ceremony the International Office handed the certificate to Ms. Wu in the presence of study program coordinator Mr. Eyden Samunderu, accompanied by a toast in her honor.
When asked why she commited to the role in the first place, Ms. Wu responded: "I was a Buddy in my second semester and had a really positive experience. As a Buddy Coordinator I can now enrich the program for other students at ISM. That to me is very meaningful."
