Entry requirements for Master's in Munich

For the pre-check of your qualification for a Master’s program, please submit the following documents to a study advisor:

  • Bachelor's degree (if available) and
  • Transcript of records
  • Examinations taken should comprise at the end of studies the equivalent of 180 ECTS points (about 3 years of studies). No specific Numerus Clausus or GPA is required
  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Proof of English language skills, for eg. TOEFL, IELTS 6.0 or other accepted international language certificate (only needed if the medium of instruction at your university was not English).

Upon examination and sucessful verification of your documents, you will be asked to register for an online admission test.

Recommended application period beforehand:

  • ca. four to six months up to one year year before your start semester (most Masters start in September/October). 
  • Please get informed from your country's German consulate how long the visa application process is currently taking, as this varies from year to year.

Application period and deadlines

While we do not have any strict or fixed application dates for our programs, we kindly ask international applicants who require a study visa for Germany to try to submit their complete application documents no later than:

  • July 15th for the programs that start in the fall term and
  • December 15th for the programs starting in the spring term.

Note: the valability of the admission test at ISM is of 1 year. We already accept applications for fall 2025.

About our Munich campus

The ISM Munich campus opened in 2009 and is located in the Karlshöfen, just a few minutes walk from famous Königsplatz and easily accessible from the Munich train station. The roughly 700 students studying here are particularly fond of the contrasts that make the Bavarian capital so special - cosmopolitan young people and traditions, big-city atmosphere combined with Bavarian charm.
