Apply now, experience something new - Application for Data Science & Business Analytics Bachelor
Application and admission – B.Sc. Applied Data Science & Business Analytics
If you wish to apply at International School of Management, you must first send your documents by email to our study advisors.
Step 1. Fast check via study advisor
This is what you need for the initial check of your registration, if you do NOT have a German high school diploma:
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- School-leaving certificate qualifying you to study at a higher German education institution
- Copy of your national ID card
- Digital passport photo (1 picture, colored, jpg. format, high resolution)
Step 2. Online application process
After successful verification, you will be asked to register online for an ISM admission test.
International applicants who require a visa for studying in Germany must submit their application documents by
- July 15th (for the fall semester) or
- December 15th (for the spring semester).
This is what you need for successful admission to the program:
- the application documents as well as
- the successful passing of the admission test
The ISM admission process selects those applicants who are best suited to study at ISM due to their abilities, motivation to study and personality. Your Numerus Clausus (NC) does not direclty count for admission.
The admission process is divided into two parts:
1. Online performance assessments in Mathematics and English
This assessment includes an online test in Mathematics and one in English. These are taken online at your preferred time prior to your interview day.
The Bachelor’s programs that are taught 100% in English do not require previous knowledge of the German language. A test or preliminary course is therefore not necessary.
Foreign applicants who do not have any previous knowledge or a B2-level of German will have to take German language class as a second foreign language during their studies.
All other applicants have to choose between French, Italian and Spanish as second foreign language. If they already are skilled in one of these languages, based on their language level they will enter either the beginner or advanced class. You can get more information from the study contents webpage or directly from your study advisor.
2. Personal interview
The online personal interview is structured as a classic job interview and examines your essential personality traits and motivation to study.
The aim of the interview is to get to know you better and to give you feedback on your results from the two performance assessment tests.
The interview is about your background, your professional and personal development goals and reasons for your motivation to study in Germany and at ISM.
Further details on the admission process and the contents of the assessment tests can be found in the PDF file Information on the selection procedure for Bachelor's studies, PDF.
After registering for the ISM admission test, you will receive an email with a link to our Online Application Portal. There you can upload the following documents required for your admission:
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Copy of your national ID card
- One digital passport photo (colored, jpg format, high resolution)
- Brief letter of motivation
- Your School-leaving certificate (certified copy) - qualifying you to study at a German higher education institution. The original must be submitted by the start of your studies!
- Alternatively, prospective students with a special educational background or a particular aptitude in their future field of study can also be recognized under the German Higher Education Act. Not sure if you possess the school entry qualification? Please ask your study advisor for more information
- External proof of knowledge of foreign languages (such as English certificate, only if available).
To be able to choose Spanish, Italian or French as your second foreign language, you need a proof of German proficiency of at least a B2-level (e.g. TestDaf, Sprachdiplom, etc.). - If you have any separate certificates of achievement confirming your foreign language proficiency (e.g. TOEFL test), please also submit them to us. However, these certificates are not obligatory for your application to study at the ISM. You may hand them in until the start of your studies.
- Work/internship certificates (if available) will support your application
- Proof of (German) health insurance (can also be submitted at a later stage, right before starting your studies).
Students who have begun a study program at a different university and wish to continue it at the ISM can have both their credit for study or examinations, and their language skills in English and French/Spanish/German recognized.
For further information ask our study advisors, they will be glad to help you.
If you have received preparatory units/classes, you must complete these requirements successfully before starting your studies. At ISM we offer Math and English preparatory courses, as well as Spanish, Italian and French prep-courses.
Proof of these must be provided in the form of a written confirmation (institute, number of lessons, teacher, and period) by the day of enrollment at the latest. You will receive all detailed information from your study advisor.
By attending a preparatory course, you can adjust your level of knowledge in order to be well equiped for the requirements of your studies. If you have received requirements in the form of a preparation course, participation in such a course is obligatory. If you would like to refresh your knowledge at your own request, you are of course welcome to attend a preparatory course at ISM prior to starting your studies.
