Careers start now: Almost 190 participants ask questions about internships, networking and more at the virtual Career Day

What does a perfect application for an internship or working student position look like? What tasks can I expect as a trainee and what could my first project look like? Almost 190 ISM students took the opportunity to get answers to these and other career questions from company representatives at this year's virtual Career Day on Thursday. These included Puma, Enterprise Mobility and KPMG.

After the welcome address by ISM Vice President Prof. Dr. Audrey Mehn, keynote speaker and ISM alumna Annika Bahl wove the common thread of the event: “Your career doesn't start when you leave university, it starts here and now.”

The 33-year-old revealed that her networking skills were crucial in getting her position as Director Government & Public Affairs at Wilo SE. Bahl had already been able to practice these during her Bachelor's degree in International Management at ISM and advised students to look for mentors and build up a strong social network during their studies.

In the subsequent webinars, which were organized by the participating companies, the students were given practical insights: from application tips and career prospects to inspiring testimonials from young career starters. At the LVMH virtual stand, Lisa, Tim and Juliana talked about their first independent projects, such as a self-planned Pride campaign, a large-scale influencer event and a product launch from conception to implementation.

In addition, exciting discussion panels on topics such as mental health and sustainability in the corporate context, as well as an expert talk on the opportunities and limits of artificial intelligence, provided valuable imput. The students left the event with numerous new contacts, fresh ideas and practical tips for applying for internships and working student positions.
