Master of Finance students at the workshop

The sale and purchase of companies is something we read weekly in the business news. But how do such transactions actually take place? In the M&A workshop held by ISM finance professor Dr. Michael Schmitt and the M&A boutique IMAP, students in the Master Finance program were able to put their investment know-how to the test.

In the workshop, ISM alumni Katja Schult and Sebastian Dinklage presented the Master's students with the task of working out solutions for an actual corporate transaction from their everyday consulting work. "I found it highly beneficial and instructive to transfer theoretical M&A knowledge into practice and then have the IMAP consultants give it a reality check," says Master's student Orkhan Aghai. He also sees the opportunity for networking as a big plus of the practical workshops. For his ISM classmate Franziska Gärtner, such workshops are a good opportunity to position yourself for the job market. "In the workshops, we exchange views with employees from companies in the financial sector. For students who stand out because of their good performance, this kind of networking can pave the way for an internship or working student position."
