The number of Chinese international students coming to Germany is constantly growing. In the interview ISM-Student Hui Zhang from Beijing explains, why she chose to study at the International School of Management in Frankfurt/Main.
What made you decide to study in Germany?
Germany is renowned for its strict demand in education. To meet the graduation requirements, students have to devote themselves to professional study. Meanwhile, education in this country put emphasis on combining theories with practical use.
What did your family and friends think of your decision to study abroad?
They supported me a lot. They think that I will do my best to achieve my goals. It was a very wisdom decision for me to study in Germany. I am always thinking quite rational and preciseness – that’s why I think Germany is very suitable for me.
How did you adapt to living in a different country?
Living in a different country is not very difficult for me. I can arrange my life very well. I already had my apartment arranged before I came to Germany.
What do you enjoy most about your experience?
After six years of work in China, I enjoy a lot being a student again, working hard with my homework, preparing the presentations and discussing problems with my classmates.
What advice would you give students thinking about studying in at ISM?
You have to concentrate on your course, and review the content which given in the lecture everyday. Don’t hesitate to ask your professor questions, they are very kind to help you.
Looking back: What was the biggest challenge?
From the very beginning I have met many challenges, like the preparation of the materials for my visa, finding a room in Frankfurt and communicating with German people who can’t speak English.
What is the biggest difference between Germany and your home country?
There are people in China everywhere, especially in Beijing. Compared to that, Germany is very quiet and the train is not crowded even during the peak-hour.
